Upkeep of Roadways

The upkeep of roadways is extremely important and expensive. Roads and highways get us from A to B, whether that means going to work, visiting grandma or taking a family vacation. Gasoline and other taxes pay to construct, maintain and modify everything from local streets to the freeways and highways we use every single day.

As cars become more fuel efficient, less gas tax is being collected for much needed road maintenance. Add to that the rise in popularity of electric and other non-gas cars, which pay zero gas tax. In addition our infrastructure is getting older and need more funds just to keep it safe. Due to these trends, states are looking at alternative methods to pay for road upkeep.

AAHLRSA-billions-spent-on-litter-clean-up-2

Upkeep of roads is expensive. Just keeping them clean costs $11.5 billion a year.

One option being tested is to charge motorists for the miles they drive versus the gas they purchase. This idea is entering testing stages in multiple states, but has major obstacles to be addressed before it can realistically move forward.

Another alternative (and our favorite) is sponsorship sales such as Adopt-A-Highway, Adopt-A-Street and Landscape Beautification programs. Adopt-A-Highway and sponsorship programs save significant funds for DOTs so they can keep us safely moving along the highway.

So on your next trip to grandma house, remember the roads cost money to upkeep. You can help by adopting a highway near you!

Love your Logo?

Love your logo? Put is on display!

A lot of work goes into developing a company logo. It is a key aspect of a company’s brand identity and should distinguish a brand from its competitors.

A logo takes thought and creativity, and many elements must be considered to create a good one. The design process should strive to make the logo immediately recognizable, inspiring trust, loyalty and an implied superiority. A good one is unique, graphic and simple in form, conveying the brand’s image message.

Red and blue are the dominate colors used and most companies use no more than two colors for their logo. Simplicity makes a logo recognizable, memorable and easy for consumers to understand. An Udemy survey found consumers’ favorite to be:
                                                                      Amazon logostarbucks logoapple logo

An effective logo should work across a variety of media and applications (i.e. Adopt-A-Highway signs).

We know you put thought, time and money into your company logo, so we suggest you put it on display for thousands to see with Sponsor-A-Highway!

Super Bowl IQ

Are you ready for some football?

Are you ready for some football?

Three Days & Counting….Still feeling unsure about your Super Bowl IQ? Here is your guide for some fun facts about the big day!

The Super Bowl got its name because one of the conditions of the merger between the NFL and the AFL in 1966 was that the winner of each league’s championship game would meet in one game to determine the “world champion of football”. One of the owner’s used the Super Bowl during negotiations and the name stuck – Super Bowl madness was born!

The 1st Super Bowl was played on January 15, 1967, following the 1966 regular season with the Green Bay Packers winning.

Super Bowl 50 is being referred to as the “Golden Super Bowl” for three reasons:

 1. The game is being played in Levi Stadium in San Francisco, California, the Golden State

2. Levi Stadium is the home to the San Francisco 49ers, a team named after the miners of the California Gold Rush.

3. It is the 50th Super Bowl to be played – 50th anniversary is traditionally the “golden anniversary”.

Levi Stadium covers 1.85 million square feet, seats approximately 68,500 and features 165 luxury suites and 8,500 club seats. For special events like the Super Bowl, they are expanding its capacity to reach 75,000 fans.

Super Bowl Sunday is the second-largest day of food consumption in the US, second only to Thanksgiving Day.

Americans drink 325 million gallons of beer during the Big GameSuper Bowl graphic

70 million pounds of avocados get mashed into guacamole (equaling one avocado per US household)

40 and 50 million pounds of chips are eaten

According to the American Chicken Council, Americans eat about 1.25 billion chicken wings during the day. That’s enough to put 572 wings on every seat in all 32 NFL stadiums, according to the organization

Enjoy your Super Bowl celebrations, but please remember to plan for a safe ride home!

Auto Insurance Myths

Auto insurance Myths – how much do you really know about car insurance? Don’t worry Adopt-A-Highway is here to help & set the record straight on a few auto insurance myths.

Insurance Myths

Fiction: Red cars cost more to insure.
FACT: Red, purple, blue, black – color is NOT a factor used to calculate car insurance rates. Things used to calculate insurance rates include the year, make, model, body type, engine size and age of your car, as well as driving record of those being insured.

Fiction: My car insurance rates should be similar to my neighbor’s, sister’s, aunt’s or uncle’s rates.
FACT: Car insurance rates are determined individually based on age, driving record and type of vehicle. Each person’s situation is different, so insurance rates will definitely vary.

Fiction: “No-fault insurance means it’s not my fault!”
FACT: No-fault insurance typically (state rules vary) requires your auto insurance company to pay medical expenses & lost wages for injuries due to a car accident, regardless of who is at fault. If you caused the accident, you are not off the hook. The insurance companies will decide who is to blame, and that driver would be liable for repairs and damages.

Fiction: Small cars are the cheapest to insure.
FACT: Small cars do not have the cheapest rates because they are often chosen by younger, inexperienced drivers who submit more claims. Also, injury claims are higher from small cars, which lack the weight and protection offered by larger vehicles. Small and mid-size SUVs and minivans are the cheapest to insure.

Fiction: Thieves prefer to steal new cars.
FACT: Older cars are more valued among thieves because the demand used parts in high. If you have an older car and you want to cover car theft, you should purchase comprehensive auto coverage.

ringinthenewJC-1383920024Ring in 2016 with Adopt-A-Highway

Looking for affordable marketing in the New Year?

If so, ring in 2016 by adding Adopt-A-Highway to your marketing plan. Average daily traffic counts on busy interstates have soared, making them one of the best places to advertise.  Our Adopt-A-Highway program is a fraction of the cost of billboards and other marketing mediums. In fact, we reach more of your target market, since many areas prohibit signs and billboards along the highways. However, Adopt-A-Highway Sponsor signs are right there, on the highways and interstates, promoting your business and community pride all day, every day.

Additional benefits to the Adopt-A-Highway program include:

  1. Sponsorship is an affordable marketing option for any size business
  2. Sponsorship reaches consumers where they work, live, play and shop
  3. Adopt-A-Highway signs are highly visible to drivers and cannot be “turned-off” in traffic
  4. Your budget dictates how many segments you sponsor – the program is expandable and nationwide, one sign or 30 signs, it is up to you!
  5. Cause marketing grabs the attention of consumers – as many as 91% of consumers make choices based on “cause” marketing
  6. Clean highways equal safer highways!
