In 2014, AAHLRSA will continue its partnership with The Canopy Project lead by Earth Day Network. The Canopy Project plants trees to help communities sustain themselves and their local economies. Trees reverse the effects of soil erosion, filter the air and help diminish the impact of global climate change. Over the past three years, The Canopy Project has planted more than 1.5 million trees worldwide. In the United States alone, projects to restore urban canopies have been undertaken in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Flint, and Chicago
The Canopy Project is completely supported by sponsors and individual donations. AAHLRSA is proud to be a sponsor for this environmentally-friendly program. Our commitment is that for every new Sponsor-A-Highway sponsor, AAHLRSA will donate a tree to The Canopy Project. In fact, since starting our partnership in 2013, AAHLRSA has helped to plant over 3,850 trees. Help us plant even more trees in 2014!Learn more about The Canopy Project at http://www.earthday.org/campaign/canopy-project

Out of home (OOH) advertising and the Internet are the two fastest growing advertising sectors. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association, OOH reached $6.7 billion in 2012. OOH media is composed of billboards, transit, alternative (Sponsor-A-Highway signs) and street furniture. OOH’s growth and its future are supported by the increased mobility of the average consumer. Consumers spend 70% of their day outside of the home. On average, consumers spend 18 hours per week in a vehicle – 60% of which is dedicated to common activities such as commuting to work, grocery shopping and eating out. OOH’s ability to reach on-the-go consumers makes it a potent stand-alone form of advertising. OOH is most effective when combined with other types of ads because it can drive consumers to web searches, mobile searches and social media. For example, the concise copy of OOH is perfect for driving traffic to a website or Facebook page. OOH ads also tend to be more effective to promote local businesses by targeting shoppers near the point of sale, putting messages when and where they reach consumers. An estimated seven out of ten people say an out of home advertisement influences their buying patterns.
Adopt-A-Highway Litter Removal Service of America, Inc. provides an effective OOH advertising platform for businesses looking to reach consumers. For more information on AAHLRSA contact our CEO, Melinda Centner at Melinda@adoptahighway.net

We would like to welcome Reverie Estates as a Sponsor! Reverie Estates is the type of company that gives back to the community in which the team works, plays and lives! Reverie Estates is a progressive development and management company in the city of Indianapolis. Chris Piazza’s testimonial below is a great example of what Adopt-A-Highway is all about – giving back to our local communities!
We have a passion for developing historic apartment buildings and property of historic districts in the Downtown and Irvington areas. We are happy to sponsor litter-removal and highway upkeep just south of Indianapolis near the exits for Fountain Square and Garfield Park, both communities where I spent my childhood years, and where I now live once again. We are thrilled to present our support and improve our brand recognition, to the travelers and commuters heading into city, with this sponsorship that presents our logo and name so well. The goals of this program are very much in line with our efforts to be part of a greater movement in Indianapolis whereby our city is becoming a more and more wonderful urban setting for living, working, and playing!”
Chris Piazza, Reverie Estates President
As 2014 approaches and marketing budgets are being finalized here are some interesting things to keep in mind:
- Treat your marketing budget as an investment, this will build the idea that marketing drives revenue and doesn’t simply incur costs.
- The average small business spends between 2-20% of annual gross revenues on marketing efforts.
- The Small Business Administration (SBA) recommends that an established company that earns less than $5 million per year allocates 7-8% of revenues for marketing purposes and that this percent should increase if it’s a new start-up business; particularly for industries such as retail and restaurants.
- Consider the return investment when planning your budget’s spending allocation. Consider how many visual impressions you will make on the potential customer.
- Remember not to get stuck in your comfort zone, be open to new and different opportunities in the marketing world.
We don’t want to brag, but Adopt-A-Highway Litter Removal Service of America, Inc. is the answer to all these points – Sponsor-A-Highway is a cost effective approach to promoting your business, with signs on major U.S. highways and Interstates that create brand recognition 24/7 all year long. Contact your Territory Manager or visit our Pricing page to inquire about sign availability in your market.
We recently asked our Adopt-A-Highway sponsors nationwide to provide us with some insight on why they decided to Adopt-A-Highway and how they feel the program is beneficial. We decided that Subway Restaurants corporate headquarters said it best:

Our more than 900 employees at our Milford Campus pride themselves on supporting our communities and working to be “green” in any areas we can. This is an easy and effective way to help keep our roadways and environments clean. With nearly 40,000 restaurants around the world many markets support similar programs in their areas. The team at AAHLRSA makes it easy to “do the right thing.” We are proud to be Team Subway and proud to be on Team Adopt-A-Highway!!”Michele DiNello, Director, Corporate Communication Subway Restaurants HQ, CT
