Pick Up Litter to
Celebrate Earth Day
The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, when a United States senator from Wisconsin organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. Rallies took place across the United States. Later that year, the U.S. government formed the Environmental Protection Agency. Today, Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide on April 22.
“By taking part in activities like picking up litter and planting trees, we’re making our world a happier, healthier place to live.” – National Geographic
What if everyone took just 15-30 minutes to clean up their yard, streets, local parks, or other places of their choosing? What if each person picked up just one piece of litter?
It would make a huge difference!
If you are reading this, please set at least 15 minutes aside, on Earth Day, April 22, to find an area to clean litter in your community.
Adopt a Highway Litter Removal Service of America has spent the past 34 years committed to removing litter. In 2022, our safety trained crews cleaned 51,261 miles of highway, which removed more than 176,839 bags of litter from U.S. roads. This accomplishment was due to our SPONSORS – businesses and individuals that care deeply about their community and the environment. Sponsor-A-Highway programs are available in more than 25 states. We concentrate on the busiest highways, where it is not safe for volunteers to provide litter removal.
We are celebrating Earth Day by increasing our commitment to a better planet. Adopt-A-Highway Litter Removal Service of America, Inc. will make a donation to the National Forest Foundation to plant trees for each NEW sponsorship in April 2023. If you want to make an ongoing commitment to reduce litter and help plant trees, consider learning more about Sponsor-A-Highway in your area.
